App Review: Achievemint

6/3/2018 Edit: Achievement has removed it's referral program, but I still use it. So I have edited this entry to reflect this.

If you walk often, are interested in walking more or are already into an active lifestyle, and want to be paid for your healthy choices, Achievement could be the app for you to look into.

Achievement is an app powered by Evidation Health, that rewards you with points for healthy actives you log in other apps as well as social media activity. Walking, biking, swimming running; if you log it somehow, Achievement will count it and reward you for it. The app connects to whatever health app you use and imports up to a month of prior data into the app and rewards you for it.

You can earn up to 80 points a day for your activity, but unless you are seriously active, you won't come near this number. My highest reward was 39 pts for about 7 miles of walking in a day. The reward values for activities are not clearly listed, but in my own experience with appears to be  more or less 3 pts per 900 steps (I calculated an average 365 steps = 1 pt). You can also earn 6 pts a day for logging meals, sleep or posting on social media with the app and varying bonus point activities which seem to range between 10 pts and 100 pts.

This app is not for someone who is looking to make a quick buck, but when you consider that the iPhone already has a built in pedometer, it's highly worth adding an app that rewards you for something you do every day already.

I have not cashed out with Achievement yet, but I have seen it is possible and thus I am hopeful! I really love that I don't have to do anything but walk -- and I already do that at work. Achievement automatically pulls in my days data from iHealth and when I feel it's a bit too slow, I can always manually pull the data in. And what the hell, I'll get my ass moving for money any day.
