App Review: Viggle (iOS / Android)

12/28/2015 Update: I no longer use Viggle but will leave the information up.

Do you watch a lot of tv? And I mean a lot of tv. Do you wish you made some damn money from watching all that tv? Then the Viggle app could very well be the app for you.

Viggle is an iOS / Android app that rewards you for watching and checking in to live television shows. You turn the app on and 'check in' to whatever you are watching. Viggle then rewards you with one point for every minute of the show you watch. It's simple and easy! You can also check in to featured tv shows, play games while watching and watch mini ads to earn additional / bonus points.

The Viggle app has a lot of potential. It is basically the most passive of passive income earners (aside from apps that pay you for unlocking your phone like Locket or tTap.) But the amount of points required to cash out is well, almost insane. The cheapest gift cards start at 20,000 points. That is 333 hours / 13 days / nearly two weeks of television, just for a $10 Papa John's gift card. Holy crap.

There are other options for rewards (such as raffle entries and 'deals') but honestly, the effort is almost not worth it.

If you watch television that much, this may be the app for you. It requires little more than checking in at the start of each program and racking up points. But for someone who spends more time watching things online and not live, Viggle is little more than a thing that I check occasionally and not actively collect points on.

If you'd like to try Viggle, you can find it online at its website (click here!)
